First Peoples' Language, Culture and Oral Traditions Certification

This application is for educators who have completed a language/culture teacher certification program offered by a sovereign tribal government.

First-Time Requirements

• Completion of a sovereign tribal government's language/culture teacher certification program 
  • (First Peoples' Language, Culture, and Oral Traditions Application 4024)
• Must present evidence of good moral character and personal fitness
• Attest that you have completed a course or coursework on issues of abuse and emotional or behavioral distress in students
  • You may enter this requirement in your E-Certification account under Clock Hours or submit the Issues of Abuse Course Verification Form 4020G
• Submit fingerprints for a background check if you do not already have a valid Washington certificate on record

Renewal Requirements

• Completion of tribal continuing education requirements
  • (First Peoples' Language, Culture, and Oral Traditions Application 4024)
• Must present evidence of good moral character and personal fitness if the applicant does not hold a valid Washington educator certificate at the time of application
• Submit fingerprints for a background check if you do not already have a valid Washington certificate on record
