English Language Proficiency Assessment Resources

There are a variety of resources available both with OSPI and WIDA to support the test administration of English Language Proficiency (ELP) assessments. 

OSPI ELP Assessment Resources 

• ELP Assessment Quick Start Guide: This publication offers a quick glance at the scope of ELP assessments in Washington. 
• ELP Assessment State Guidance: This publication contains the state guidance for ELP assessments and covers all test administration details for WIDA Screeners and WIDA ACCESS, including the before, during, and after test administration process. Coming soon. 
• ELP Assessments District Contacts List: This publication, updated four times a year, includes the contact information for each district’s ELP Assessments contact. This information can assist with district-to-district communication. Coming soon. 
• WIDA Alternate Screener Guidance: This publication outlines the use of the WIDA Alternate Screener, available July 2025. 
• 2025-26 Launch: This publication briefly summarizes the updates in ELP assessments for the 2025-26 school year. 

WIDA Resources 

Users with a WIDA Secure Portal account have access to additional resources housed in the WIDA Secure Portal, including the test coordinator manuals, test administrator manuals, training courses, and other resources. It is recommended that users preview these materials in addition to the OSPI resources.
