Summer Food Service Program Training
Financial Resources
Training is required for all sponsors who wish to operate a SFSP. Sponsor administrators must attend training and then train all sponsor staff. Registration is required for the in-person training and webinars.

- New Sponsor Training- Summer 2023

All new sponsors (sponsors that did not operate Summer 2022, new lead Program administrators, and returning administrators with significant operational problems identified during last year’s administrative review must complete the following trainings prior to application approval.
Training Requirements
New sponsors must complete the following training to operate the SFSP in summer 2023:
- In-Person SFSP New Sponsor Annual Training
- Recorded Required Training
- Civil Rights* recorded training
- Procurement* recorded trainings
- Budget: located in Moodle
- Financial Viability, Capability, and Accountability (VCA) training: located in Moodle
*NOTE: Civil Rights & Procurement trainings can be waived if training was completed earlier in the year with another CNS program. Please keep documentation regarding training completed.
Accessing Budget and VCA Recorded Trainings
- You must create a Moodle Account to view this training if you do not have one already.
- Go to OSPI Learn Moodle and create an account.
- Confirm your account login.
- Go to the SFSP Annual Training Moodle course.
- Select ‘Self Enroll’ at the bottom of the page.
- Once in the course, select the 'SFSP New Sponsor Training' tile.
- Watch all required trainings and download the presentation slides as needed.

- After completing all training requirements, you must certify completion of the training in the Moodle course.
- The training certificate will then be available to print.
- Keep this documentation for your records.
- We will not ask for this information during the application, but may ask for it when on administrative reviews.

Returning sponsors must complete the following training to operate the SFSP in summer 2023:

- Recorded Required Training
- Civil Rights* recorded training
- Procurement* recorded trainings

- SFSP Short Trainings for Site Staff
These short trainings (10 minutes or less) are designed to quickly train site staff on various topics about SFSP operations and their role. These trainings are supplemental and do not replace training from the sponsor.

The SFSP Public Training Moodle Course has trainings designed for sponsor administrators and site supervisors to expand their knowledge about the operating the SFSP. Training topics include:
- SFSP Meal Patterns
- SFSP Reviews
- Farm to Summer
- Utilizing the Washington Integrated Nutrition System (WINS)
- Special Programs
There is no separate training for sponsors of camps, Upward Bound, and migrant sites this year. New sponsor and new administrators of these special programs must attend one of the New Sponsor/Administrator In-Person Trainings. Returning sponsors and administrators can either participate in an In-Person Returning Sponsor Training or complete the recorded training for returning sponsors. All special program-specific content will be covered in all of these trainings.
