K-12 Data Governance is a workgroup that oversees the development and implementation of a K-12 education data system for financial, student, and educator data. Established in 2009 by the Legislature, the data system serves requirements for teachers, parents, superintendents, school boards, OSPI, the legislature, and the public.

Data Governance membership includes representatives from school districts, data users, and statewide organizations. The Data Governance Group maintains a Policy and Procedure Manual that outlines the data governance system for establishing data management priorities and data quality practices. The workgroup is periodically reviewed and monitored by the Educational Data Center and the Legislative Evaluation and Accountability Program Committee.
