Hope can be defined as the belief that the future holds the potential for improvement and that you have a role in making that future a reality. According to psychological research, hope is a crucial predictor of well-being and mental health, for both youth and adults.

The Science of Hope is grounded in three core concepts:

  1. Goals: These are the objectives or desired outcomes we strive to achieve. Setting clear, achievable goals provides direction and purpose.

  1. Pathways: This refers to the strategies or routes we develop to reach our goals. It involves identifying various ways to overcome obstacles and achieve our desired outcomes.

  1. Willpower: Also known as agency, this is the determination and motivation required to pursue our goals and adhere to the pathways we have established. It represents our ability to stay committed and persist through challenges.

Every day, we set and work towards our goals. Hope is closely linked to our ability to set these goals, devise effective pathways to achieve them, and maintain the willpower necessary to sustain our efforts. Hope is a powerful factor in fostering resilience and mental wellness. By nurturing our ability to set goals, create pathways, and harness willpower, we can positively impact our mental health and work towards a better future.

Hope Navigator Training

The Hope Navigator training helps your organization learn how to teach, lead, and support the practice of Hope Rising. It goes beyond a one-time event, building long-term expertise within your team to keep promoting and applying the principles of hope.

Participants will get certified, enabling them to create strategic plans and introduce the Science of Hope in your organization, ensuring it becomes a lasting part of your work.

Hope Navigators need a strong commitment to hope and must be dedicated to supporting your organization's vision. They will also join a Community of Practice, meeting every other month for a year, to continue learning and growing in their role.
