The Educator Data, Research and Development team can help the public find data on Washington state’s educator workforce.

Educator Data Elements

  • Certification: Issuances and endorsements
  • Demographics: Race and ethnicity, age, and gender
  • Education levels: AA, BA, MA, and PhD
  • Employment: Position type, Full Time Equivalency (FTE), Fund source of educators, Years of experience
  • Teaching assignment: Content areas, State course code, Teacher Qualifications (In-Field/Out-of-Field status)
  • Educator Growth & Development: Educator training, Clock hours

If you need help researching Washington state's educator work force, please fill out our Educator Data Request Form and a data analyst will respond to your request within 5 business days and an estimated delivery date.

UPDATE: Due to a high volume of requests, OSPI is prioritizing requests from agency and legislative staff. If you are not affiliated with the agency or the Legislature, your request will be handled as capacity allows starting from February 2025. Please check OSPI's Data Portal for all publicly available data reports. A request only needs to be submitted for data that is not already available through the Data Portal.

Any data request being submitted from this site is not under the Public Records Act (RCW 42.56).

OSPI's Educator Data, Research and Development team collects the following educator data through the Educator Data System:

Educator Data Analysis, Report, and Supporting Tools

The Educator Data, Research and Development team develops and maintains a suite of  educator data analysis and supporting tools available through the Tableau Server in Education Data System (EDS). These tools support Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and OSPI internal program offices in conducting effective Program Reviews and in informing the distribution of federal and state resources.

Educator Data Resources

Educator Data Resources

The Educator Data Overview is a detailed glossary of the sources of educator data that OSPI collects and analyzes, most of which are available to the public. These include the Washington State Report Card and other OSPI data portals.   

In addition to those sources, the Data Guidance for Students’ Equitable Access to Effective Educators tool for Local Education Agencies (LEAs) draws from the Teacher Qualification Comparison Workbook. LEAs use it to identify disproportionality of educator qualifications and the student access rate to qualified educators, to comply with federal requirements [ESEA Section 1111(g)(1)(B), Section1112(b)(2)].
