The At-Risk Afterschool Meals component of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) offers federal funding to afterschool programs that serve a meal or snack and provide educational or enrichment activities to children in low-income areas.
The "So, You Want to Operate the CACFP in Your School Program" video provides an overview of the program and what organizations and programs may qualify.
Local Education Agencies (LEAs) that participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) may choose to operate either the CACFP At-Risk Afterschool Meal Program or the NSLP Afterschool Snack Program. Refer to the Comparison of Afterschool Program Reference Sheet and Flow Chart to determine the best program for your LEA.
