On May 30th, 2025, President Trump released his proposed federal budget, which included broad cuts to K–12 education programs. If this budget were to be adopted as is, the amount of essential funding that would be pulled from Washington’s school districts totals to over $100 million per school year, starting in the 2026–27 school year.

The proposed federal cuts to K–12 education data display shows the amount in proposed federal cuts per full-time equivalent (FTE) student in each of Washington’s 295 school districts. The map uses color gradients to indicate levels of potential federal funding cuts, with darker shades representing larger cuts per student and lighter shades representing smaller cuts. Hovering over each school district will show the district's FTE enrollment for the 2023–24 school year, the total amount of federal cuts proposed (using fiscal data from the 2023–24 school year), and the federal cuts per FTE student (using fiscal data from the 2023–24 school year).

The data download linked above the map includes the revenue code information used to create this data display.

The Puget Sound is not seen in these maps, because Washington school districts’ legal boundaries are drawn over the Puget Sound.
