Institutional Education Structure and Accountability Advisory Group

Contact Information

Institutional Education

The Institutional Education Structure and Accountability Advisory Group provides advice, assistance, and information to OSPI and the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) for the development of recommendations for a reformed institutional education system. The recommendations must be focused on meeting the complex needs of students who are in or have been released from secure settings and must be based on the foundational concept that every student can succeed given the necessary supports.

OSPI and DCYF have selected the American Institute for Research (AIR) as the external contractor that will provide facilitation and logistical support for the Advisory Group meetings. AIR is a nonpartisan, non-profit organization whose mission is to generate and use rigorous evidence to contribute to a better and more equitable world.

The Improving Institutional Education Outcomes: Interim Status Report, jointly prepared by OSPI and DCYF, describes the formation of the Advisory Group and next steps in developing recommendations to address educational outcomes for youth and post-resident youth.
