Below is more information on applying for Online School Program and Online Course Provider approvals. Please note the differences in approval categories as well as the Resources for each category.
Online School Programs
*For public schools only
Are online courses more than 50 percent of a student’s schedule? If yes, then your program may need approval.
There are three types of online school programs: Single District, Affiliate, and Multi-District.
- Single District Programs

- May use Approved Course Provider courses/teachers and/or district courses/teachers
- Have a cap on non-resident students at 10 percent
- Applications accepted year-round

- Do not have a cap on non-resident students
- Accept applications year-round

- Multi-District Programs

- May use Approved Course Provider courses/teachers and/or district courses/teachers
- Do not have a cap on non-resident students
- Accept applications throughout the month of January
Please follow ALL steps for each year your organization intends to apply:
- Review Resources (see below)
- Submit an Intent to Apply
- Meet with the Learning Options Program Specialist
- Prepare Application Materials
- Submit Application between January 1 and January 31

Online Course Providers
Private & public organizations may apply for approval if interested in selling online courses to schools, districts, and/or students.
Course Providers
Open to public schools, private or non-profit entities offering online courses. School districts can contract with approved online course providers for individual online courses. The application window is yearly throughout the month of January.
Please follow ALL steps for each year your organization intends to apply:

- Submit Application January 1 through January 31
