English Language Proficiency Assessment Resources

There are a variety of resources available both with OSPI and WIDA to support the test administration of English Language Proficiency (ELP) assessments. 

OSPI ELP Assessment Resources 

• ELP Assessment Quick Start Guide: Quick glance at the scope of ELP assessments in Washington.
• Coming Soon ELP Assessment State Guidance: State guidance for ELP assessments, test administration details for WIDA Screeners and WIDA ACCESS, including the before, during, and after test administration process.  
• ELP Assessments District Contact List: Contact information for each district’s ELP Assessments contact to assist with district-to-district communication. Updated four times a year
• WIDA Alternate Screener Guidance
• Assessment Updates: ELP assessment updates for the 2025-26 school year. 

WIDA Resources 

Users with a WIDA Secure Portal account have access to additional resources housed in the WIDA Secure Portal, including the test coordinator manuals, test administrator manuals, training courses, and other resources. It is recommended that users preview these materials in addition to the OSPI resources.
