Becky works with students who struggle both academically and behaviorally while also supporting students with disabilities. She also believes that facilitating positive experiences for families is critical to engaging the whole student and building a positive climate that supports everyone. When she joined Lincoln, the school had just begun its co-teaching movement, an approach that places general education and special education teachers in teams to better serve all students and reduce pull out time for students. Becky has worked hard to strengthen this program. Now a majority of students at Lincoln are in their classroom at least 80% of the time.
Becky says, “In education, there is no end to learning. When I went into my first job, I was under the impression that I knew what I needed to know. I could not have been more wrong. Robert John Meehan states ‘As a teacher you have to be committed to learning for a lifetime first before you can lead your students down that path.’ This could not be more accurate.”
