Learn From Our Own Webinar Series
The Learn From Our Own webinar series facilitates the exchange of best practices among colleagues. During these webinars, you’ll gain insights from your peers about the challenges and successes related to Parent and Family Engagement (PFE) implementation. Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) showcase practices at the school or LEA level. This collaborative project involves Title I, Part A, the Learning Assistance Program, and the Multilingual and Migrant Education program.

The workshop will be made available to participants in the webinar. This webinar will support educators in the work of helping families nurture a habit of regular attendance.

Family & Community Engagement Modules Demo Learn about OSPI's Whole Child Initiative and the Authentic Family & Community Engagement Modules! These modules are designed for school teams and community-based organizations to work together. Accompanying the ten modules is the School Leader Toolkit. This toolkit includes discussion questions and proactive exercises to help you and your team co-design a unique family and community engagement plan. Mount Vernon Bi-National Teacher Exchange Program This Bi-National Program has been a great success at the Mount Vernon School District, not only with students but also with families. One of the possible impacts is for it to become a summer school program with or without a Migrant Education program. The presenter will share the district’s experience of hosting Bi-National Teachers from Mexico for their Migrant Summer School program. The audience will have the opportunity to hear about the program's successes and the impact on student learning. The presenter will provide a detailed explanation of how to apply for this opportunity and an estimate of the program's cost. Various funding sources can be used to support this program, including Title I, Part A.

Landscape Assessment of Family Community Engagement Learn about the Yakima Valley Landscape Assessment. The assessment identified three challenges: technology, ineffective communication, and inequity. The assessment was done in collaboration with the National Flamboyant Fellowship, West Valley School District, La Casa Hogar, and Yakima School District. The presentation will focus on the pilot programs implemented to address these challenges.

ESD 105 Building Capacity for Parent Leaders–Wahluke Migrant Core Parent Advisory Council PAC This session focuses on how to build capacity within parent leaders in the district and how to engage them in the decision-making process within your district. ESD 105 Voicing Culture Through Family Engagement | Familias Participando y Respondiendo al Arte Cultural
In this presentation, Selah School District demonstrates the importance of an integral program where families' voices count. Their goal is to strengthen families and to deliver opportunities to learn, participate, and gain a better perspective of how the school district identifies gaps in the program and areas of improvement. The techniques and strategies mentioned in this presentation apply to families of different backgrounds and will show how to break down barriers to parent participation. This presentation is in Spanish with closed captioning in English.
