Contact Information
Parent and Family Engagement (PFE) encompasses involving families in activities and programs that enhance children’s development, learning, and well-being. This includes their participation in planning, developing, and evaluating these activities, programs, and systems. Title I, Part A emphasizes PFE initiatives at all schools receiving federal funds to promote effective teaching and engaged learning.

Key Components
Allowable Costs
LEAs and schools must provide a broad range of services designed to help parents help their children succeed at school. The activities allowable under PFE are generally linked to goals, training, meetings, inclusion, and removing barriers.
Annual Evaluation
LEAs and schools must conduct an annual evaluation of the content and effectiveness of the PFE plan, program, and policy.

Communication
Under state and federal law, all parents have the right to information about their child's education in a language they can understand. Learn more about LEA and the school's role in this process.
Funding
Parents must be involved in the decision-making process that impacts the PFE policy/plan, programs, and activities. Participating Title I, Part A LEAs and schools must fulfill and implement PFE requirements regardless of allocation.
Policy | Plan
Each LEA that receives Title I, Part A funds must develop a written PFE policy that establishes the program components for parental involvement, while each school that receives Title I, Part A funds develop a written PFE plan.
