Title I, Part A is a federal program designed to provide customized instruction and curricula that helps students meet academic standards and close educational opportunity gaps. As the oldest and largest federal education program, Title IA programs build opportunities for children whose families’ economic struggles often keep them on the academic sidelines. The Washington state Legislature sees the value in and strengthens this program by sending additional funds for the same purpose through the State General Fund. This program is called the Learning Assistance Program (LAP).
