Title: The Ship of Theseus
Medium: Graphite
Dimensions: 10" x 8"
Inspiration: Creating oneself into being
Artist's Name: Luca Campbell
Title: Directions
Medium: Digital Photography
Dimensions: 12.6 x 8.4
Inspiration: What lies at the heart of this photograph is movement. When we photograph dance, we often conform to the fast shutter speed and crisp lines that makes up much of sports photography, but for this photo I wanted to use a long exposure in order to bring out the emotion and movement of the subjects.
Artist's Name: Luca Campbell
Title: Hardship
Medium: Mixed Media
Dimensions: 12" x 12"
Inspiration: For this piece I wanted to specifically combine digital and traditional art. I drew the more realistic parts of it traditionally, while making the parts with fantasy elements digitally for contrast. I also wanted to convey the feeling of having someone on your side while going through hardships, and how that can be a sort of saving grace.
Artist's Name: Lyons Emerson
Title: A Shut-In World
Medium: Graphite
Dimensions: 12" x 9 "
Inspiration: One of my favorite things to draw is abandoned buildings, especially when they’re covered in moss, grass, or branches! I’ve lost a lot of my love for drawing over the last few months, but making this has slowly re-sparked my love for art and I’m really looking forward to making even more in the future!
Artist's Name: Lysbeth Li Cen
Title: The Past Time
Medium: Digital Art
Dimensions: 499x665
Inspiration: An ancient building that shows the culture of the past.
Artist's Name: Marina French
Title: Yoga Kitty
Medium: Clay Ceramics
Dimensions: 4.5 x 4.5 x 6
Inspiration: “Yoga Kitty” is a handmade sculpture using only clay. I formed the clay in an arched position and then molded it in the shape that looked like a cat, curled up. For the texture, I used a knife tool and carved using curved, short scratch techniques all over the body to create the fur. This piece was inspired by my cat who I and my family treasure deeply with his companionship.
Artist's Name: Mary Ellen "Sunny" Peterson
Title: 2-7.1
Medium: Digital Painting
Dimensions: 7" x 5 "
Inspiration: I wanted to see if I could capture the loveliness of sunlight on feathers and the regale mess of the great blue heron with this piece. The medium of digital art lends itself to the use of so many stark colors and allowed me to make this piece what it is.
Artist's Name: Matias Soto
Title: Fear Me Not
Medium: Graphite
Dimensions: 27" x 39"
Inspiration: "Fear me Not" is a biological take of the biblically accurate angels and is a product of world-building. My work is driven by curiosity and interest rather than one of vigor and opinion. As the piece is for general interest not deep meaning; the art is completely freestyled, no drafts, no reference, and no plan. Just 100% authenticity and originality.
Artist's Name: McKaye Morrill
Title: Janitor
Medium: Photography
Dimensions: 8" x 10"
Inspiration: A janitor doing his everyday job. I think the things that are talked about the least have the potential to be the most beautiful.
Artist's Name: Mia Ressa
Title: Nature's Hand
Medium: Acrylic Paint
Inspiration: In this piece, I wanted to express the relationship between humans and the environment. The hand reaching out of the bushes symbolizes what nature provides for humans, and the match symbolizes how we abuse that relationship.
Artist's Name: Micah Engh
Title: Metamorphosis
Medium: Chalk Pastel
Inspiration: Artwork is an interpretation of the world around us from my viewpoint. I think that is one of the most critical aspects of the art, the combination of meaning, style, and fundamentals to create a conversation between artist and audience about how we view the world. Metamorphosis is a piece about finding beauty internally and externally because of the process and imperfection not despite it.
Artist's Name: Milan Ly
Title: Strawberry
Medium: Watercolor
Dimensions: 12" x 14"
Inspiration: I was inspired by the images of real strawberry plants. Each image showed different stages of the strawberry growing and developing which gave me an idea to paint a life cycle of the strawberry plant.
Artist's Name: Miles Noethe
Title: Resting
Medium: Stained glass panel
Inspiration: This is my first time making a stained-glass mosaic and it’s been an incredible opportunity. My piece titled “Resting” It is inspired by a bike ride I took last summer after taking a rest in the shade.
Artist's Name: Mirabella Velo
Title: St. Mirabella
Medium: Acrylic
Dimensions: 12" x 36"
Inspiration: A self-portrait in acrylic on canvas. Inspired by religious stained glass and paintings of Mary I saw in Rome. Note the deliberate imperfections: disheveled hair, textured skin, and a single Air- Pod. I paint self- portraits. My use of a limited color pallet, odd sized hand stretched canvases, iconography and expression conveys a multifaceted story. The work showcases my own questioning and understanding of my coming of age. Frida Kahlo’s expressive femininity and the perfection of renaissance paintings are my inspirations.
Artist's Name: Mykla Smith
Title: Spring Ride
Medium: Ink & Watercolor
Dimensions: 8" x 8"
Inspiration: “A Spring Ride,” portrays my love of dirt biking & nature by using watercolor to paint me & my sister on a dirt bike camping trip.
Artist's Name: Natalia Villarreal
Title: In My Own World
Medium: Digital Art
Dimensions: 1800 p x 1200 p
Inspiration: This piece represents a vibrant wolf drifting in a dream-like world. Its patterns represent nature and the co-existence of humans and canines while the strong colors are inspired by my Mexican culture. The wolf is my most beloved animal because it is majestic and mysterious, but also represents adaptation, co-existence, and perseverance; all values that align with my Mexican culture, with colors also inspired by alebrijes. The dream-like appearance was inspired mainly by the loneliness I felt during summer when I was always in my head.
Artist's Name: Nathan Porter
Title: Entropy
Medium: Glass
Dimensions: 8"x5"x5"
Inspiration: My piece was titled “Entropy” after the term meaning “gradual decline into disorder” or “a lack of order or predictability.” My piece represents beauty in chaos, and that the word “bizarre” can also be a compliment. This was my first fired glass art piece and it is made of recycled glass available to me. The fact that the glass is recycled shows that beauty can be achieved through many inputs.
Artist's Name: Nikolas Puletasi
Title: Decay & Bloom
Medium: Mixed Media
Inspiration: With the piece, Decay & Bloom, I aimed to express the feeling of self-expression through the lens of natural organic details and femininity in its multitudes. Through the organic shapes in a piece and the contrasting color scheme, I aimed to juxtapose the ideas of this ethereal entity with the vulnerability of the woman who holds what is intended to be herself in the palm of her hand.
Artist's Name: Noah Boling
Title: A Quiet Sunset
Medium: White Charcoal
Dimensions: 24" x 36"
Inspiration: The seclusion of the beach lured me in the emptiness of the ocean.
Artist's Name: Noah Deligeannis
Title: Froggy Froggy
Medium: Colored Pencil
Dimensions: 9" x 12"
Inspiration: I'd never attempted drawing with such realism, nor had I ever used colored pencils outside of rudimentary coloring. I really enjoyed the process and I'm happy with not only the final result, but with the learning and growth that came with undertaking the project. With a mixture of focus and hand cramps, I present to you my favorite animal, the frog.
Artist's Name: Ocean Smith
Title: The Things That Last
Medium: Photography
Dimensions: 5826 x 3889 Pixels
Inspiration: I wasn't expecting this shot, and mainly focusing on shooting other boats, so I ended up using a little longer focal length than I wish I had, as it would have been nice to get a little more of the size of the sail. I do like how you can see more of her face though. All in all, I'm really happy how this photo turned out, and it made me look for photos in the places that I'm not expecting them to be.
Artist's Name: Oliver Dickason
Title: Adaption
Medium: Clay & Glaze
Dimensions: 7.5x18.5x3.5
Inspiration: I used clay and high-fire glazes to make my surrealist beetle sculpture. I made a beetle because I love bugs and science/biology so I wanted to make a piece about evolution or adaptation. So, I attached bird legs to the beetle to make it both prey and predator, the beetle adapting to dominate in nature. Eventually ending up dead spread out to be displayed in a museum as a specimen for science.
Artist's Name: Oliver Flynn
Title: Junewood
Medium: Ceramics
Dimensions: 18"x9"x9"
Inspiration: "Junewood" is based off a major character from the personal project I am working on with my best friend, an energetic boy named Cedrus who is reincarnated into a jackalope, which we call “Junehoppers". Later in the story his kind stepmother, who is a potter and sculptor, creates a statue of a Junehopper as a memorial for him and I really wanted to bring that to life. The most important thing I learned from this project was the process of building up a piece and solving problems of shaping by layering clay and keeping him from caving in. If I were to do this project again, I would start with the body instead of the head and add some more texture to him.
Artist's Name: Olivia Ordway
Title: The Patient Croc
Medium: Clay & Glaze
Dimensions: 14.5x5.5x4.5
Inspiration: I chose to build a crocodile as the guardian for this Egyptian-inspired canopic jar because for me it represents patience and instinct and these values are important to me because I often struggle with them. In the wild, crocodiles often lay in wait for many hours and up to days waiting for the opportunity to catch their prey, they trust their instincts and wait for the right moment to strike.
